This ballpoint pen was made from bloodwood (also known as satine), a popular crimson wood species that can appear anywhere from a vivid red or dark pink to a brownish red over time. This pen was finished with 12 coats of thin cyanoacrylate (thin super glue), making it highly durable, virtually waterproof, and stain resistant. The owner of this pen should be cautious about letting it fall on hard surfaces, though, such as concrete, tile, or stone, as the finish may scratch or even crack. Comes with a single one-time use ink cartridge (black ink).

Imperfections and Price Reduction

During the initial blank assembly process, the hole that was drilled through the cap end of this pen was slightly off-center, and as a result, the cap end of the pen had to be turned down to a slightly thinner diameter than the nib end. Although difficult to visibly tell, the cap end tapers more steeply than the nib end, and as a result, this pen will be offered at a 20% reduction from the normal price.

Cleaning & Maintenance

For dust and dry debris, these pens should be cleaned off with a soft microfiber cloth or towel. If applying water to the towel, be sure to quickly dry the pen off once finished cleaning. While the cyanoacrylate finish on these pens is completely waterproof, this finish is only present on the outside of the pens and not in the seams between the bamboo/resin portions and the metal kit parts (thus, water may seep inside). For any light scratches that may develop on the pen with prolonged or heavy use, the original gloss can be restored by using a micro fine polishing paste, such as a plastic polish, or an automotive polishing product, such as Meguiars PlastX Plastic Cleaners.

DO NOT use any product containing acetone or similar solvents as these products will dissolve the pen finish.
