If you'd like to see the full process of how this bowl was made, check out the link here: https://youtu.be/rpY44f2Tm54

This bowl was made from 11 different species of wood (specifically: red oak, yellow heart, paduak, cherry, sap wood, hard maple, ash, purple heart, bloodwood, black walnut, and red heart). They were planed flat, glued into 6 boards, and rings of various sizes were then cut out. These rings were stacked together and turned into the bowl you see here on a lathe. The bowl was sanded to 600 grit and finished with tung oil and carnuba wax. This finish is water resistant, but not waterproof, meaning any liquids spilled onto the bowls surface should be cleaned up in a timely manner.

Care, Cleaning & Maintenance

It must be explicitly stated that this bowl is for decorative purposes. While water resistant, this finish is not waterproof, and any water that does happen to get onto the bowl should be wiped off quickly and the bowl left to dry. This bowl should never be put in a dishwasher. This finish is not graded as food safe, and so it is not recommended to be used as a serving dish.

For dust and dry debris, simply use a soft microfiber cloth or towel to clean. If applying water to the towel, be sure to quickly dry the bowl off once finished. For any light scratches that may develop on the bowl with prolonged use, the original gloss can be restored by using a wipe on wax.
