The Turquoise Octagon Bowl

This bowl was made from red oak pieces of wood, which were glued together into three different sized rings, and cast in epoxy resin dyed with a transparent turquoise pigment. The bowl was finished with multiple coats of a hardening wipe-on varnish, making the final product durable and water resistant (but not waterproof).
Dimensions
Weight: 1.56lbs (0.71kg)
Height: 3.38" (8.59cm)
Diameter (top): 9.1" (23.01cm)
Wall Thickness: 0.44" (1.12cm)
Imperfections
During the wet sanding process, the chuck of the lathe (the part that holds the bottom of the bowl) stained the inside rim of the mortise (the hollow cut out on the bottom of the bowl) black. This, however, cannot be seen anywhere on the outside or inside of the bowl, and is only noticeable if looking directly at the bottom of the bowl.
Care, Cleaning & Maintenance
It must be explicitly stated that this bowl is for decorative purposes only. While water resistant, this finish is not waterproof, and any water that does happen to get onto the bowl should be wiped off immediately and the bowl left to dry. This bowl should never be put in a dishwasher. This finish is not graded as food safe, and so it is not recommended to be used as a serving dish.
For dust and dry debris, simply use a soft microfiber cloth or towel to clean. If applying water to the towel, be sure to quickly dry the bowl off once finished. For any light scratches that may develop on the bowl with prolonged use, the original gloss can be restored by using a medium-to-high gloss wipe on hardening varnish, such as Waterlox's Original Medium Sheen formula.
