If you'd like to see the full process of how this bowl was made, check out the link here: https://youtu.be/GQVggsoknsw

This bowl was made from a board crafted from strips of wavy zebra wood and cast in a transparent epoxy resin dyed a tangerine orange. From this board, multiple rings were turned off on a lathe and stacked atop one another to make a final bowl. The bowl was finished with multiple coats of a hardening wipe-on varnish, making the final product durable and water resistant (but not waterproof).

Dimensions

Weight: 0.41lbs (0.19kg)

Height: 2" (5.08cm)

Diameter (top): 9.25" (23.5cm)

Wall Thickness: 0.25" (0.64cm)

Imperfections

During the casting process, the resin overheated, which resulted in many bubbles forming in the final casting (some can be seen in the photos). The rings, also, did not stack atop one another perfectly lined up, and these slight overlaps can also be seen between the different layers. The bowl also came out quite a bit thinner than intended (total bowl weight is only 0.4lbs), which may be desirable to some individuals, but we felt that important to state here given our typically thicker products. Due to these imperfections, this bowl has been listed significantly lower than our other similar products.

Care, Cleaning & Maintenance

It must be explicitly stated that this bowl is for decorative purposes only. While water resistant, this finish is not waterproof, and any water that does happen to get onto the bowl should be wiped off immediately and the bowl left to dry. This bowl should never be put in a dishwasher. This finish is not graded as food safe, and so it is not recommended to be used as a serving dish.

For dust and dry debris, simply use a soft microfiber cloth or towel to clean. If applying water to the towel, be sure to quickly dry the bowl off once finished. For any light scratches that may develop on the bowl with prolonged use, the original gloss can be restored by using a medium-to-high gloss wipe on hardening varnish, such as Waterlox's Original Medium Sheen formula.
